In this short blog post, HSD’s CTO – Craig Taylor provides an update on some newly announced changes from Microsoft.

Not too long after rebranding Flow to Power Automate, Microsoft has rebranded the Common Data Service – which represents the data storage and management foundation of Power Platform. This change is part of Microsoft’s plan to connect Power Apps with Microsoft Teams, enabling easy and straightforward usage empowered with more functionality for? its users. HSD’s flagship Power Platform accelerator, DCMA, is underpinned by the power of Dataflex Pro. While the name Dataflex Pro will undoubtedly take some time to settle – Power Data or Power DataFlex may have been a less jarring choice. Dataflex Pro Platform will continue to play a vital role in providing digital transformation opportunities to organisations.

To aid the transformational opportunities within an organisation, Microsoft has expanded the possibility of using Microsoft Teams and a new offering called Dataflex. Dataflex delivers a built-in, low-code data platform for Teams, and provides relational data storage, rich data types, enterprise-grade governance, and one-click solution deployment. The addition of the low code Dataflex platform positions Teams as a central application for serving an organisation’s operational requirements both with custom-built apps and chatbots. The move empowers organisations to:

  • deliver services with agility – adding business value with an extensible data platform,
  • increase scale and efficiency – boost productivity, decrease the risk, reduce costs and increase agility by quickly developing applications,
  • make data work smarter – getting more accurate insights by adding low-code AI tools to the process automation,
  • rely on the security of a trusted platform.

Microsoft Teams and the Power Platform is shaping the future of work with low-code applications that streamline business processes in the organisation. Dataflex and Microsoft Teams offers the possibility for end-users who need access to critical business data to create apps and bots.

I am looking forward to seeing what HSD can do to help its customer partners to produce over time.
