Recently when importing data into CRM using Microsoft Excel we came across the error “The Source Data is not in the required format”. The error was for a DateTime column.
First we confirmed both the source and destination systems had the same System Settings and same Regional Settings. So we tried the following without success:
- Changing the column properties from DD/MM/YYYY to MM/DD/YYYY
- Changing the column to text by formatting the column as General
No matter what format we set the DateTime it was always getting reverted to DD/MM/YYYY.
A simple workaround would be to change the column properties to YYYY/MM/DD. This way the target system doesn’t need to do any guess work.
Another workaround would be the following:
- In Set Personal Options > Formats > Change the Current Format to English (United States)
2. Perform the data import.
3. Revert the changes in Step 1 to original value.
