Power Platform

The Microsoft Power Platform is extremely powerful. Connect them with Dynamics 365, Azure, and Office 365 and you can build end-to-end business solutions.

The Power Platform is an application platform that enables you to build powerful business solutions in a much quicker time. See how HSD implements the Power Platform across our range of services.

Power Apps

Power Apps

Enabling you to build apps with minimal code, using pre-built templates and features such as drag and drop for quick deployment.

How we have used Power Apps

HSD’s Work from Office App – Canvas Apps

Canvas Apps allow you to design and build an app from a canvas in Microsoft Power Apps without having to write code in languages such as C#. We developed the HSD Work from Office App using Power Apps as a response to COVID-19 to allow employees to register and check-in when they will be working from an office. This allows for greater oversight of staffing locations and ensures HSD meets density restrictions during the pandemic.

Cyber Hub – Model Driven Apps

A component-focused approach to app development, model-driven app design doesn’t require code and the apps you make can be simple or complex. Using this, we created the HSD Cyber Hub to raise awareness of cyber security issues amongst staff and to implement an improved process for managing cyber security issues. See it here: Cyber Hub: A DCMA Case Study

DCMA Portal – Portals

Power Apps portals allows makers to create external-facing websites that lets users outside their organisation sign in with a wide variety of identities, create and view data, or browse content anonymously. Expanding on the HSD Cyber Hub, a key part of the requirement for the solution was to create a self-service web portal which allows staff to enter a security incident report, log requests for help, and handle applications, complaints and enquiries processes.

We used Power Apps portals to create the My Game Licence (MyGL). For insight into our process, read our case study.

Power Automate

Automating tasks and business processes using workflows and pre-built connectors.

How we have used Power Automate

One of the scenarios we use power automate is to update a dataset in Power BI. A Python script refreshes a SQL database, it triggers a flow to start a refresh of the dataset in Power BI. It refreshes the dataset only when the database is already updated.

Power BI

Power BI

A powerful analytics platform that gives you oversight and insight using the data most relevant to you. Power BI also includes data visualisation tools that help data consumption and understanding easy.

How we have used Power BI

We created reports and dashboard from a cloud application. We created a copy of the data in a MS SQL database by API calls. Power BI connects to the database. The reports provide a graphical interface to review resources availability and capacity plus providing a forecast of the pipeline of tasks for each resource and/or project.
